The Hero Honda Dio was great scooter model which really opened the doors for a new line of sporty and stylish machines. The new Honda Dio have come up with new body graphics, brand new styling and good upgrades compared to the older model. Hero Honda has received good sales for their older version of the Dio and it’ll be a task to match the level of the Dio which was a cult figure for youngsters of the country with their looks. Priced at Rs 47,887, the new Honda Dio is back in the market to build on the fame and goodwill the older Dio created amongst the people of the country.

Yes, the new Honda Dio performs much better than the older version. This scooter has a displacement of 109cc with is fitted with a single cylinder assisted with an air-cooled engine which seems to be extremely efficient to the fellow bikers. The cylinder of the scooter has two valves with a single spark plug engine with a great cooling mechanism which cools down the machine when needed. It gives around 6 bhp of peak power and around 8 Nm worth of torque which is quite good and at the same times is powerful. The scooter is best felt between 3000-4000rpm with high end revs really pushing the bike through the roads. It has been structured with a 50mm bore and 52mm stroke assisting the CDI ignition type. The engine is much more refined than the older model which results in a better overall performance in the segment. This scooter zooms from 0-60kmph in 10 seconds and having a top speed of 100kmph which is makes it a smooth ride on Indian roads.

Ride Quality

Before we start, I will say this that the ride quality of the new Dio is much better than the new Activa. The Dio has a sophisticated and highly durable handling mechanism. The chassis of this scooter is a rigid under bone which is not very familiar by many scooters here. It helps the scooter in tight corners and to wriggle out of traffic. The brakes of the Dio have been fitted by a drum type where the front and rear have a 130mm with a good suspension system. The suspension for the scooter has a hydraulic damper spring type at the front and the back consists of a mono-shock suspension. This helps the scooter to negotiate tough surfaces and potholes by regaining balance and grip back to the rider. Dio functions on petrol and has a carburettor fuel delivery system. The mechanics of the bike have suited the automatic gearbox and clutch of V Match chain drive transmission.

Looks & Design

The Honda Dio is the most trendy and stylish scooter in the market currently. Just like the previous Dio, the headlight is at the front part of the body. Not only it looks much better but the quality of plastic used is efficient enough. The footrest of the bike has been made much more spacious and more muscle has been added to the body. Logo of the bike on the side of the scooter has been complimented with a good design and colour variant which really looks good. The belly of the scooter has been sported with a two-colour tone making it eye-catching. The rear end of the vehicle is trendy with a nice grill grip complimenting each other properly. This scooter is always in a twin-colour tone which is not available easily in every scooter. It has a supreme ground clearance which doesn’t scratch the road. The instrument of this scooter has a standard speedometer and fuel tank indicator which is really ancient. They could have done better in this segment by introducing a LCD screen for the same.

Fuel & Economy

The scooter has a 5L fuel capacity with 1L of reserve. It has an overall mileage of 60kmpl where 55kmpl is given in the city and around 65kmpl at the highway. These numbers are highly impressive because people want their scooters to be fuel efficient with great mileage. The Honda Dio really turns a few eyes for this segment of two wheelers.

The headlight of the scooter is a 12V 35/35W which is really powerful. It makes the roads much brighter and visible. It makes the rider much more confident on the road and giving it a new experience altogether. It has a electric start and has a good pillion footrest.

Suggestto Verdict

This scooter is definitely made for the youngsters of the country who can zoom around with great handling and great looks. The price tag of the Honda Dio is also amazing, making it extremely affordable and easier to purchase. This scooter has gotten back the memories of the older version of the Dio.
