Benelli is one of the oldest Italian motorcycle manufacturers. They have decided to spread the base to India and with entry-level bike market booming, Benelli decided to launch their bike the TNT 300. The range from 250cc-400cc is on the surge right now becauseit gives a good combination of looks, performance, speed and handling with touring capabilities. The DSK Benelli TNT 300 is an entry level bike which is actually a naked street racer. The muscular build of the bike makes it really attractive and much more durable. It is priced at Rs.3,14,000/- which is slightly overpriced as compared to the other bikes in the same category. The Benelli TNT 300 is in a direct competition with Duke RC 390, Honda CBR 300, and Kawasaki Ninja 300


Looks & Design

The Benelli TNT 300 looks a bit tall and compact. Muscular design and outlay patterns help in the looks of the machine. The front stance of the bike is inclined which looks aggressive. The headlight of the bike has a nice design and outlay and with the muscular 16L fuel tank, it compliments heavily to the overall design of the bike. Red trellis frame looks good from the naked eye and contrasts beautifully with the body. The tail section of the TNT 300 looks dull with below-par standard designed tail light. It is over bulky and portrays a stiff image for the audience. However, the LED turn indicators have a unique design which looks stylish and sporty. When it comes to design, the instrument cluster of the bike is nothing out of the world. It is nice and compact which is easy to read. The grip on the handlebar is good and there are many other minute details like the flip-key and the stitching on the seat of the bike. The DSK Benelli TNT 300 is not a very attractive motorcycle to look but that doesn’t mean the bike is a low-key machine. 



The Benelli TNT 300 is powered with a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, parallel twin 300cc engine which gives around 38 bhp power at 11,500rpm and 26.5 Nm torque at 10,000rpm. The six-speed constant mesh transmission really pushes the power to the rear wheel. The bike also has an electronic Delphi fuel injection system and a timings mechanism with double overhead camshafts. As we turn on the ignition, the bike has a nice noise which pumps up the rider and after revving it a few times, there is a meaty exhaust noise which comes into life. On paper, the power and torque of the bike is really good and impressive but they really present themselves at the high end of the rev range. This means that the bike is absolutely great to ride in traffic and cruising as well because it is extremely confident at the low and mid revs. It goes from 0-60kmph in 4 seconds and 0-100kmph in under 9 seconds. The top speed of this bike is 170kmph. It is really not an absolute beasts which spits nasty power but it is more practical and has focused more on the overall welfare of the machine which makes it a good option for the audience. 


Ride Quality

The ride quality of the Benelli TNT 300 is not as crisp as the Kawasaki Ninja but it is definitely a bike that stands up to the challenge when it comes to bumpy roads and potholes all thanks to the inverted telescopic fork suspension in the front and a hydraulic monoschock at the rear. For this bike there are two tyre options, one being MRF tyres and other being Pirelli Angel tyres and obviously the Pirelli offers much more when compared to the MRF.  The bike is a treat to ride in the city because it performs best in the mid-range rev and the steering it much more flexible as compared to other bikes. The set of Pirelli tyres will give the rider a supreme grip on the surface but the chassis isn’t as strong as we’d want it to be thus, this bike isn’t a high performer at rough and tight corners. Braking mechanism on this bike is quite good with a 260mm disc brake drum in the front and 240mm disc brake drum in the rear. Its responsiveness is highly accurate but seeing the price-tag of the bike, there should have been the ABS system as every standard entry level 300cc bike has and this is where the Benelli falls short. It’s really disappointing to see this even though knowing the competition in the market. The front and rear tyres are tubeless and radial with alloy wheels, this keeps the potholes at bay and makes riding on difficult surfaces extremely easy and with utmost efficiency. Talking about the numbers, the front tyre is a 120/70 – 17 (P) and the rear tyre is 160/69 – 17 (P).

Fuel & Economy

The fuel tank capacity of the Benelli TNT 300 is 16L with a reserve fuel capacity of 3L. The overall mileage of the bike is around 25-30kmpl which is comparatively higher than its competitors. The fuel injection results much better and efficient use of fuel which falls under the BSIV emission levels. In the city it goes between 20-25kmpl while on the highways it is much higher at 30-35kmpl. Now, these numbers are extremely impressive for an entry-level bike in the 300cc category because its much higher than the KTM or the Kawasaki itself.


The headlight of the Benelli TNT 300 is quite comprehensive and stylish. The particular design the headlight is aggressive and mean. The body contrasts compliments the lights quite significantly with extremely stylish layouts. The taillight for the bike is really dull and boring; no style or design on it really makes it extremely low and timid. The headlight is a multi-reflector while the taillight is a LED type. 

Suggestto Verdict

The DSK Benelli TNT 300 is a good and solid entry-level bike in the segment. It may not be as powerful and good-looking than the Kawasaki or Duke RC 390 but it backs a punch when it comes to off-road riding and long cruises. It is certainly not the quickest amongst the lot but good handling and fuel economy helps its cause. If you are a person for which numbers matter then look elsewhere but if you want a good, solid and all round bike then go for it. Disappointment is not a part of this bikes dictionary.
