Back Story

The makers of Bajrangi Bhaijaan look east, toward the borders of India-China.

Story

A simple boy, his brother and the Indo-China war. The setting is laid out in the trailer itself. The audience in the theatre hoping to see the adventure unveil before their eyes. Only…….it doesn’t.

Performance

Salman Khan is too old for this role, his act as a simple boy isn’t convincing and seems too fake and put on. Sohail Khan looks confused through most parts of the little parts he has in the film. Om Puri sahib’s last performance is phenomenal (like it has always been in the past 45 years). Zhu Zhu is so beautiful and personally speaking, I think, she worked the hardest trying to get her Hindi right, and mind you, she did a fab job.

Music

Radio is a foot-tapping catchy number. Naach Meri Jaan, Tinka Tinka Dil Mera, Mein Agar don’t make the impact they intended to.

Editing & Direction

Kabir Khan, the director makes the look of the film glossy and tries to give it a warm feel. The shots are well taken, body doubles used with such honesty that even a common man can make out it’s not the original actor. Also, this happens to be in the league of films that Kabir Khan has written too.

When you have a lot of ambiguity in the story, there is so much to edit to ensure the vision of the director gets portrayed to the best of it’s ability.

Writing & Screenplay

The idea is simple. The narrative is stretched beyond the audiences comfort. Dialogs seem forced, and humor made up. Screenplay is vague and takes too much time to come to the point.

Suggestto Verdit

Just like a tubelight, it will take time for this film to be accepted by the audience. It has some bright sparks, but mostly the starter and choke of this Tubelight needs major repairs.

Jal Ja! Jal Ja! Jal Ja! So jaa!
